Can we make your part?
The key data of our production, shown on one part. If your part does not clearly fit, ask anyway. We will tell you honestly what is possible.
- Quantities
- From 1. Single parts, prototypes and small batches, turned parts from bar stock also in series.
- Milling
- 3+2 axes, five-sided machining, travels 500 × 420 × 380 mm.
- Turning
- Main and sub-spindle, Y axis, B axis and driven tools.
- Materials
- Tool steel, aluminium, engineering plastics and others on request.
- Measuring
- Coordinate measuring machine, shafts up to Ø 50 mm, inspection report on request.
- No drawing
- A sample, a photo or a sketch is enough. We create the CAD model.
No drawing? We manufacture anyway.
Reverse engineering from the physical part to the finished part. For spare parts the manufacturer no longer supplies, and for prototypes without CAD data.
Example geometry for illustration, not a customer part.
You send us a sample, a photo or a sketch. A drawing is not required.
The 3D scan captures the geometry of the part and digitises it.
The scan data becomes a CAD model that is ready for manufacturing.
Material, setup and machining sequence are defined.
The part is turned and milled, quickly and in small quantities.
You receive the reproduced part, with an inspection report on request.

Industries we manufacture for
Our strength is delivering high-quality parts quickly. That matters differently in each of these industries. The drawings show example parts, not customer parts.
Mechanical engineering
Single parts, fixtures and spare parts that have to fit the existing machine and must not take weeks to arrive.
Automotive
Turned and milled parts with high repeat accuracy, from the sample part to series from bar stock.
Toolmaking
Precise contour and surface machining, also in tool steel, plus repair and modification work.
Medical technology
Small quantities, clean surfaces and, on request, an inspection report for every part.

CNC manufacturing for start-ups
Are you developing a new product? We manufacture prototypes, functional samples and first small batches, quickly, flexibly and on fair terms.

Frequent questions from buyers and engineers
Short answers to what usually needs to be clarified before an inquiry.
Who is Steindl Metallverarbeitung?
Steindl Metallverarbeitung GmbH is a metalworking company in Durlangen near Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, whose core business is CNC turning and CNC milling. The company has existed since 1993 and has been manufacturing in its own production hall in Durlangen since 2017.
What does Steindl Metallverarbeitung manufacture?
Steindl Metallverarbeitung manufactures turned and milled parts to customer drawings: single parts, prototypes, spare parts and small batches. The core business is CNC turning and CNC milling, complemented by drilling, reaming, countersinking, sawing, laser marking, deep drawing and metrology.
Which quantities are possible?
Manufacturing starts at a quantity of one. The focus is on single parts, prototypes and small batches. Turned parts from bar stock are also made in series on lathes with bar feeder.
Can single parts be manufactured?
Yes. Single parts from a quantity of one are everyday business, for example prototypes, fixture parts or spare parts.
Which CNC processes does Steindl offer?
CNC turning, CNC milling with 3+2 axes and five-sided machining, and combined turn-mill complete machining with main and sub-spindle, Y axis and B axis. In addition there are conventional milling, laser engraving and deep drawing.
Which machines does Steindl use?
A DMG DMU 50T 3+2-axis machining centre, the universal milling machines Deckel FP4 and Huron MU5, the Gildemeister GMX 200S Linear turn-mill centre, the Biglia B650YS CNC lathe and two Dainichi lathes with bar feeder. Measurement is done with a Wenzel LH 65 coordinate measuring machine and a TESA Scan 50 shaft measuring machine.
Can a part be reproduced without a drawing?
Yes. For reverse engineering, a sample part, a photo or a sketch is enough. Steindl captures the part by 3D scan, creates a CAD model that is ready for manufacturing and reproduces the part by CNC machining.
Which materials are machined?
Turned and milled parts are made from different materials, from tool steel and aluminium to engineering plastics. Name the material you need in your inquiry and we will check feasibility.
Which industries does Steindl manufacture for?
For the automotive industry, toolmaking, mechanical engineering and medical technology. In addition there are start-ups and product developers who need prototypes and first small batches.
Is there an inspection report for the parts?
On request, yes. Measurement is done on the Wenzel LH 65 coordinate measuring machine and on the TESA Scan 50 shaft measuring machine for shafts up to 50 mm in diameter.
Where is Steindl Metallverarbeitung located?
At Ludwig-Bölkow-Straße 1/1, 73568 Durlangen, near Schwäbisch Gmünd in the Ostalbkreis district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.
