CNC milling with five-sided machining

Complex milled parts with high dimensional accuracy, from a single part to a small batch. The machining centre mills your part from five sides in one setup.

Tool path on the workpiece

  • Faces, pockets and contour in one program
  • 3+2 axes: five sides in one setup
  • Travels X 500 / Y 420 / Z 380 mm
  • Zero point and checks with the 3D probe

Example geometry for illustration, not a customer part.

Five sides, one setup

The DMG DMU 50T is a 3+2-axis machining centre with an NC rotary table. An integrated 3D probe measures the workpiece and sets the zero point automatically. This pays off above all for single parts, fixtures and prototypes, where every additional setup costs time and accuracy.

  • Travels X 500 mm, Y 420 mm, Z 380 mm
  • Tool magazine with 16 pockets, Heidenhain TNC control
  • Precise contour and surface machining

Conventional when it is faster

Not every part needs a CNC program. For repairs, modifications and fixtures there are the universal milling machines Deckel FP4 and Huron MU5. With its machine table of 450 × 1,600 mm, the Huron also takes larger workpieces and heavy milling work.

Further machining steps from one source

We do drilling, reaming, countersinking and sawing in-house. On request we mark your parts by fibre laser with a serial number, Data Matrix code or logo.

CNC milling: short answers

What does CNC milling at Steindl involve?
Steindl Metallverarbeitung mills parts to customer drawings in Durlangen on a DMG DMU 50T 3+2-axis machining centre. The NC rotary table allows machining from five sides in one setup.
How large can milled parts be?
The machining centre has travels of X 500 mm, Y 420 mm and Z 380 mm. For larger workpieces there is the Huron MU5 universal milling machine with a machine table of 450 × 1,600 mm.
Which materials are milled?
Among others tool steel, aluminium and engineering plastics. Other materials on request.
Are single parts and small batches possible?
Yes. Milling starts at a quantity of one, typically single parts, fixtures, prototypes and small batches.
Where are the milled parts manufactured?
In the company's own production hall in Durlangen near Schwäbisch Gmünd, in the Ostalbkreis district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
How do I send an inquiry for milled parts?
Through the inquiry form with a STEP file or drawing, material and quantity, by e-mail to info@steindlgmbh.de or by phone on +49 7176 9979866.
