Prototypes, single parts and spare parts without a drawing

You need a part reproduced, but there is no drawing? We take care of the complete reverse engineering from the physical part to the finished CAD model and manufacture your part by CNC machining.

You provide
Sample, photo or sketch
Capture
3D scan
Result
CAD model and finished part
Quantity
Single parts and small batches

From the sample part to the finished part in six steps

You send us the part, we take care of the rest: from digital capture to manufacturing.

Example geometry for illustration, not a customer part.

  1. You send us a sample, a photo or a sketch. A drawing is not required.

  2. The 3D scan captures the geometry of the part and digitises it.

  3. The scan data becomes a CAD model that is ready for manufacturing.

  4. Material, setup and machining sequence are defined.

  5. The part is turned and milled, quickly and in small quantities.

  6. You receive the reproduced part, with an inspection report on request.

Reverse engineering: short answers

Can Steindl reproduce a part without a drawing?
Yes. Steindl Metallverarbeitung reproduces prototypes, single parts and spare parts in metal even when there is no drawing and no CAD model.
Can I have a spare part or another metal part reproduced?
Yes. Typical cases are defective metal spare parts that the manufacturer no longer supplies, and single parts for which no documents exist any more. The existing part serves as the sample.
How does the process work?
The part is captured by 3D scan and digitised. This results in a CAD model that is ready for manufacturing, from which the part is turned or milled by CNC machining.
What is needed as a starting point?
A sample part, a photo or a rough sketch. The most important dimensions, the material and the required quantity are helpful.
What does the customer receive in the end?
The reproduced part in the required quantity, with an inspection report on request.
Which quantities is this suitable for?
For single parts and small batches. The focus is deliberately not on mass production.

When reverse engineering is worth it

Our focus is deliberately not on mass production but on single parts and small batches. Exactly where classic high-volume suppliers reach their limits.

  • Spare part no longer available

A defective metal part that the manufacturer no longer supplies. We reproduce it from the existing sample.

  • Single part for development

You need a part in a small quantity and only have a sample or a rough sketch.

  • First prototype

A start-up has a hand-made sample but no CAD model that is ready for manufacturing yet. We create it.

What we need for a first assessment

  • Photos of the part from several directions, ideally with a scale
  • The most important dimensions or a hand sketch, if available
  • Material, as far as known, and the required quantity
  • What the part is used for and which surfaces are functionally relevant

By arrangement, you can send us the sample part itself or bring it to Durlangen.

Send a non-binding inquiry now.

Upload photos or a sketch. We get back to you quickly with a first assessment.
